Amazon launches first robotic distribution centre in Czech Republic
Amazon in the Czech Republic Amazon has officially put into operation its first robotic distribution centre in the Czech Republic, the company said in a recent release. The centre currently employs more than 1,000 people and Amazon plans to hire hundreds more by the end of this year in order to meet the demand for local distribution.
The four-storey centre covers a total area of nearly 190,000 square metres and is equipped with state-of-the-art robotics. Located in the Olomouc region, near the town of Kojetin, it is one of the most advanced logistics centres in the Czech Republic.

The centre, named 'BRQ2', was officially opened in June this year, marking an important milestone. It heralds the introduction of the latest technology designed to simplify the daily work of Amazon employees, while prioritising operational safety and providing high-quality working conditions.
Since 2013, Amazon has invested more than CZK 26 billion in the Czech Republic, officials said. A portion of this investment has been dedicated to implementing advanced technologies to support safer working practices, enhance the employee experience and improve well-being by reducing the need for heavy lifting. Established in 2019, Amazon's European Advanced Technology team has played a key role in creating more than 550 new technologies, investing more than €400 million in Amazon's European sites over three years.
